The Prajnaparamita Sutras form one of the major backbones of the Buddhist tradition. Prajnaparamita means the "perfection" (paramita) of "wisdom" (prajna). The basic essence or "heart" of these "Perfect Wisdom" Sutras is distilled and captured in the Heart Sutra-- one of the most treasured sutras of all Buddhism.
